In early 2007 Inside Dateline ran a story online analyzing this new trend of cell phone forensics. The article was eye opening to many people who read it.

Did you know that cell phone forensics are being used more and more these days? During criminal trials, it is now being used in court. A cell phone can help to establish the movement of the person who owns it.

Cell phones operate similar to two-way radios. When you make a call it is recorded by the carrier to show which towers your phone has contacted or pinged and what time it was.

This makes it very easy to trace a person’s movement using their cell phone. Did you know that there are some mobile phones that now have a GPS chip in it?

This means that no matter where you are, if your cell phone is on you can be located at that exact moment in time. You can be traced to within several hundred yards of where you were.

In metro areas with multiple towers you can be traced almost to the block of where you were. Your cell phone is leaving a trail that you may not want.

Cell phone forensics is done by using the trail that your cell phone leaves. Although it is new, when done right, this type of forensics can be very effective.

Here are some of the things that this type of forensics can retrieve from anyone’s cell phone.

- Deleted text messages no matter who they were sent to. In many cases text messaging is more popular than actually making a cell phone call and can provide all kinds of information.

- Address book entries that you have deleted. You will want to read of these if you have something to hide.

- Any pictures that you have taken and deleted. Cell phones make it easy to take pictures at almost anytime.

The retrieval of this information can tell a lot about a person’s activities. Cell phone forensics is something that should not be done unless you know how and you make sure it is done legally.

This is why it is a good idea to learn more about it before you do anything else. It may be better to leave that up to a private investigator who can also take a cell phone ,blackberry or other handheld devices and download the information from it to analyze it.

Cell phone usage is on the rise. More people are becoming comfortable relying on cell phones and continuing to replace landlines with them. A study conducted among 878 MyOpinionNow.com panelists gives insight on the usage of and the reliance on cell phones in the United States.

This research focuses on the use of cell phones, and in specific the use of internet on cell phones. As cell phones are becoming more sophisticated people are able to communicate at their fingertips in a multitude of ways. Cell phones are no longer just for making phone calls. They now serve as a personalized portable device enabling users to better interact with others and the cell phone itself. With a plethora of capabilities, cell phones can be used for the internet, to text, to chat, to take and share photos, to email, to browse the internet, to play games, to navigate directions while driving, to check movie times, as well as stocks, weather, traffic, etc. The possibilities are infinite.

This study by MyOpinionNow.com reveals that 87% of people currently own and use a cell phone. That means that just over 1 in 10 people do not own one. One in five people no longer use a traditional landline and rely only on their cell phone. Nearly one third of the under 35 age group use only a cell phone in comparison to the nearly one in five from the 35-49 age group and the nearly one in ten from the 50 and older age group.

MyOpinionNow.com reports that approximately half (49%) of cell phone users have access to the internet from their cell phones. Only 33% of them claim to never access the internet from their cell phone. 45% access the internet from their cell phone at least occasionally. Those who use the internet from their cell phones most often tend to be younger. Additionally, more men than women tend to use the internet from their cell phone—52% of men and only 43% of women use the internet from their cell phone at least occasionally, while 57% of women and 48% of men rarely or never access the internet from their cell phone.

Across all age and gender demographics, email is the primary reason for using the internet from a cell phone for about 66% of the people interviewed. Next up, about 49% say they use the internet from their cell phones to kill time when bored. The reasons following were to check weather, browse websites, check movie times, check stocks, and other. For all reasons other than email, answers varied across age and gender demographics. Specific percentages can be viewed by downloading the MyOpinionNow.com report.

This research indicates that 19% of the people interviewed use only a cell phone. This number has increased significantly from previous years, and continues to grow. The convenience of a cell phone can not be argued. The cell phone has come a long way since it was first introduced. This tiny tool can be used in so many different ways, it would be no surprise if it replaces more than just landlines.

Exquisite wallpapers always add to the beauty of your phone and add a wonderful visual effect to your phone. Wallpapers can challenge both your boundless imagination and inspiration. Cell Phone wallpapers can serve many purposes, for example a wallpaper of a nice natural view such as a waterfall provides a nice soothing feel and lets you relax, and also a wallpaper of your loved ones such as your two year old son or your wife can really cheer up your dull and depressing moments.

And that is the reason why there are so many people who are over enthusiastic about wonderful cell phone wallpapers and constantly keep on searching for more. Creating and uploading wallpapers to your cell phones may appear to be a difficult task but here I will teach you step by step how to have your favorite wallpaper uploaded to your cell phone.

Finding Suitable Wallpapers:

If the wallpaper is already on your hard drive or if you want to upload the pictures of your loved ones then it must already be on your hard drive. In that case you do not have to follow this step and you can jump directly to the next step. There are many places where you can get excellent free wallpapers. Suppose you want to find wallpapers related to nature. The first place you should search is Google Images and type in “nature” without the quotation marks.

As you will be searching for wallpapers for your cell phone then it is best to select “small images” before hitting search. This will only help you if you have a slow connection, as large images take forever to download on slow connections such as dial ups. If you have a fast connection such as DSL or Broadband then there is no need for any change. If you find the wallpaper you are looking for click on it, once it has been downloaded and you can view it all then right click on the image and select “save image as” or “save picture as”. After that give it a location on your hard drive to download to.

Setting Up Your Wallpaper:

For this step you will need to download a free imaging tool. Just search for free imaging tools in Google and you will find loads of good alternatives to the default paint application that cam with your Windows installation. You can download it for free from their website. Once you have downloaded and installed it open the wallpaper you want to upload with your new software. It is now time to resize the wallpaper according to your cell phones resolution. You will have to know the resolution of your phone screen before you can do this, you can either consult your cell phone manual for this or you can search in Google for your cell phone’s resolution.

If all else fails you can try one of these resolutions which are most commonly used in modern cell phones; 176 x 144, 320 x 240 or 240 x 320. To resize your go to Image form the menu bar and then click on “Resize”. Make sure that the “Maintain Aspect Ratio” is unmarked and then enter in the desired resolution. For Example for 176 x 144 enter 176 in width and 144 in height. Click on “OK” and then save the image by clicking File and then Save.

Uploading Your Wallpaper:

Now that we have made all the necessary arrangements it is time to upload your wallpaper to your cell phone. There are two ways by which you can upload a wallpaper from your computer to your cell phone via USB or via internet. Suppose your phone came with a USB cable and if you can connect your phone to your PC then this is the easiest method. Just connect your phone to your PC and just copy the wallpaper from your computer and paste it in your phone memory. After that all you have to do is to setup the new image that we just uploaded as your wallpaper from the phone settings or file manager.

If your phone does not have a USB cable and cannot connect to your PC but you can connect to the internet via that phone then this is the method you should follow. First you will have to upload your image from your PC to a free image hosting service. There are loads of free image hosting sites out there, all you have to do is to search for image hosting in Google. Go to their website and upload your image there. Once done they will give you various links to choose from.

If you do not understand what they mean or what they are supposed to do then you should not worry as we only need the direct link. Of all the links provided to you search for a “Direct Link”. Once located type the direct link provided into your cell phone browser. The link should be copied exactly as it is nothing should be changed. If even one character is mistyped or missing, you will not be able to download your wallpaper. Once you have typed the link in your cell phone browser, click on ok and it will download the image to your phone memory. Now setup this image as your wallpaper from your settings menu and you are done.

Cell phones produce electromagnetic radiation. Cell phones discharge certain signals known as radio frequency energy, a form of electromagnetic radiation. There is lot of news these days as to whether cell phones emit radiation which affects our health. Cell phones are placed close to our head which results in direct radiation to the head. Ionizing and Non-Ionizing radiation are the two types of electro magnetic radiation. Radiation can damage human tissue if exposed to high levels of radio frequency radiation. Some of the health problems that can arise due to cell phone radiation are Cancer, Brain tumors, Alzheimer, Fatigue and Headache. According to a survey, higher levels of cell phone radiation can heat biological tissue and cause damage such as burns.

In U.S. every cell phone model is tested and meets FCC standards before it is sold in the market. SAR (specific absorption rate) is a way of measuring the quantity of radio frequency energy that is absorbed by the body. A cell phone or cordless phone should have less than 1.6 watts per kilogram SAR level.

Some of the highest radiation cell phones in United States are as follows: Motorola V195s has 1.6 SAR level. Motorola ZN5, VU204, W385, i335 have 1.59, 1.55, 1.54 and 1.53 SAR levels. Some of the lowest radiation cell phones in United States are as follows: Samsung Eternity SGH-A867, SGH-G800, Soul, Innov8, SHG-T229, and SGH-i450 have 0.194, 0.23, 0.24, 0.287, 0.383 and 0.457 have SAR levels.

Some of the cell phone radiation protection tips are as follows: When you are speaking over the phone, try to keep the phones as far as possible from the ear. For long conversation use landline corded phones. Do not use cell phones in areas where the signal is week. As far as possible, text messages instead of making a call. Buy a cell phone that has lower SAR. Do not allow children to use a cell phone except for emergencies. Children are more sensitive to radiation because their bodies are developing. Don’t keep the cell phone near your body at night. Do not put the cell phone in your pocket while in use. Nowadays various cell phone protection devices are available in the market which can protect you from radiation.

Many people are facing health problems due to cell phones. Many people are prone to high blood pressure due to cell phones. A study has found out that if people use cell phones for long hours they can face problems like burning skin, headaches and fatigue, sleeping disorders and brain tumors. You can also face short term memory loss problems. Some researches claim that holding a cell phone on the ear for long hours can damage muscles, bones, tendons and discs.

Cell phone has become one of the basic essentials among the techno-savvies irrespective of their profession and life style. Most people are using cell phone in place of a landline connection primarily due to their portability.

However, the handy device needs proper care and attention for consistency with its performance. When it comes to cell phone performance, the first thing that comes to our mind is the battery of a cell phone which forms the vital part of the device.

The functionality of the cell phone battery can be decided from two aspects- the interval between the charges and the life of the battery on a whole.

To increase the life of the battery between charges:

The simplest way is to switch the cell off when you do not want to receive a call, for instance at nights or after business hours or at times when your cell phone is out of coverage area. In an area where there is poor or no signal the cell may search for a better connection consuming much battery power.

Use ring tones of your cell phone instead of using the vibration mode and try to keep the volume as low as possible. The vibrate function eats up much battery power making the battery run down of power faster.

Flash photography, connection to internet and Bluetooth device drain the battery quicker. Hence, switching off the unnecessary features when not in use can save the power of your cell phone battery. WiFi and GPS enabled cell phone are also more prone to higher battery consumption and should be turned off.

Well, limiting the talk time over cell phone is healthy for both the battery and you as well. Longer call results in more consumption of battery.

Use the GSM mode of the cell phone in stead of using it in 3G/Dual mode.

Turn off the back light of your cell phone.

Extend the Life of Cell phone Battery:

The new battery should be initialized properly. Charge the new battery completely before installing it into the cell phone.

Keep the cell phone in room temperature as much as possible. Exposure to excessive heat may deter the battery to last long and perform properly. Moreover, try to keep the battery cool.

It is very important to charge the cell phone battery properly according to its type. The nickel-based batteries need to be discharged completely once in every two to three weeks and then recharged again. The lithium ion batteries should be discharged till the low battery warning. Recharge it before the battery is completely drained out. However, it is important to use cell phone charger meant for the type of battery.

Storing the battery properly is another vital thing. Store it away from any metal and make sure that the cell phone battery is not exposed to moisture.

The battery contact should be cleaned in regular time interval as they accumulate dirt over time.

No matter how much care you take of your cell phone battery, it is sure to die and decrease its performance sooner or later. You can ask the manufacturer to get it refurbished. Some of the cell phones have a `Battery Save` option that can be turned on to increase the life span of the battery. Ensure that the temperature inside a car is not high if you are using a car charger to recharge your cell phone.

When you are using delicate gadgets like cell phone, it is essential to take proper care of it. The cell phone battery is one of the delicate parts of the cell phone and its performance depends largely on the way you take care of it. However, charging the cell phone in a proper way is the important aspect of battery care that will ensure prolonged life for your cell phone battery.

Cell Phones, also known as Mobile Phones, have become a way of life. It is no exaggeration to state that in the modern times, it is almost impossible to lead a normal life without the help of cell phones. Believe it or not, several countries including the UK now have more mobile phones than people. If this sounds incredible to you, take a look at the following startling statistics:

- Around 80% of world`s population has mobile phone coverage as of 2006. This figure is expected to increase to 90% by the year 2010.

- In the United States, 50% of children own mobile phones.

- On a numerical basis, India is the biggest growth market adding about 6 million cell phones every month and it is expected to be 500 million by end of 2010.

The market for the cell phone is becoming over-crowded with scored of companies invading the market every quarter of the year. However, as per a recent survey, Nokia Corporation is the largest manufacture of mobile phones with a whopping market share of approximately 36% in the first quarter of 2007. Typically, the mobile phones are meant to play the same role as their stationary counterparts, i.e., landline telephones. However, the introductions of different high-end tools and ground-breaking technologies especially in the last decade have changed the concept of communication like never before.

With facilities such as SMS, Instant Messenger, Built-in MP3 player, Video recording, Internet, GPS and so on, the cell phone has become a key social tool. Ironic as it may sound, but now most cell phone users are keeping in touch with others using `SMS` and a brand-new culture of texting has developed in the process. Moreover, now cell phone users are increasingly customizing and accessorizing their cell phones by adding new features such as ring tones in order to boost their social status and reflect their personality.

Different cell phone manufacturers are well-known for offering some unique features in with their respective cell phones. Hence, often, it becomes difficult for the buyers to decide to settle for a particular brand when they go out shopping. The following are some useful tips on buying a cell phone that will not only reduce your inhibition to a substantial extent but also help you to shop smart. Here they go:

Accessories and Add-ons:

A wide-range of cell phone accessories and add-ons are now available at a lower cost. You can add these accessories, such as cell phone covers, screen protectors, bluetooth handsfree headsets, antennas, leather cases and etc, according to your needs. While shopping for a cell phone online, ensure that the online store offers price guarantee. Otherwise, it will be a traumatic experience for you when you will find out that same item is available at a cheaper price in another store. Make sure the cell phone you are buying has some sort of price protection or guarantee.

Free Shipping:

When you purchase a cell phone online, see to it that the online store bears the cost of shipping. There is no point in buying a cell phone worth of $100 when you have to pay $30 towards shipping cost.

Quick Delivery:

Picture this: you checked that elegant and sleek designed cell phone, made the payment through credit card, and kept looking forward to its being delivered until you got frustrated and lost your priceless peace of mind. Who needs this sort of purchase anyways? It is indeed quite a harrowing experience to get your products delivered late. Supposing you have plans to pleasantly surprise a friend of yours by gifting her a cell phone on her birthday by having it delivered at her door-step. The last thing you want is your gift being delayed and reaching her late after her birthday. Allow a reasonable span of time for your being delivered at the desired destination.

Privacy Policy:

Usually, all e-commerce sites have their privacy policy stated on the homepage. However, it is up to read between the lines and ensure that you have fully understood privacy policy. All the personal information relating to customers should be protected and kept confidential at all cost.

One of the neatest features of today’s modern cell phones is the ability to get ringtones for them that you can download to your phone. You can associate a particular ring tone to specific callers so that you can tell who is calling without even looking at your phone, just by listening to the ringtone you have assigned to that caller.

Almost all cell phones have this ability today and the amount of creativity that cell phone owners are showing with the ring tones they have chosen is truly amazing. Think of how you could set that up on your phone. When your son calls from college, his assigned ringtone might be the song “Money”, since you know that is what he is calling you to request. When your boss calls you, his ringtone might be the 70’s rock song “Taking Care Of Business”. When your flaky neighbor calls who always wants to talk to you about the latest money-making scheme he has discovered, your cell phone might play the theme song from “Looney Tunes”. When your ex calls you to ask about your late alimony payment, your cell phone might play the ringtone from the Wizard Of Oz, “Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead”. The possibilities are endless and are limited only by your imagination.

There are several online services that allow you to download ringtones to your cell phone, but you need to be careful. Some of these organizations do not allow you to view their ring tone selection before you join for a fee, and after you have joined, you discover that their selection is severely limited.

With other services, you need to make sure that the format of the ringtones is something that your cell phone can actually play. For example, some older Sprint cell phones only allow ring tones in a proprietary Sprint format. Most of the newer cell phones allow you to download an MP3 format ringtone, which is the same format used on CD’s and your Ipod, and you likely have a very large collection of “ring tone possibilities” in your music collection already.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there is a limited amount of memory in cell phones. But most of the newer cell phones allow a mini SD storage chip to be inserted into the cell phone, and that can be used to store literally hundreds of different ringtones that you may wish to use or assign to a specific caller.

The process of downloading a ring tone to your cell phone varies by the make and model of your cell phone. With some of them, you initiate the transfer of your selected ring tone online and it arrives to your cell phone as a text message, although the cell phone will recognize it as a ringtone and not really a text message. With some of the newer cell phones that can access the Internet, you surf to the Internet site, enter your ID, and download it directly to your cell phone from there.

With many of the newer cellular phones, the box included a cable that goes from the cell phone to your computer. With this cable, you can transfer ringtones directly from your computer into your cell phone, and then use that ringtone.

Personalize your cell phone with ringtones today and make it a unique accessory that reflects your personality!
